Temsa Global

Temsa Global, which started its coach production activities at its Adana production facilities in 1987, has strengthened its production activities by inaugurating two new plants in Cairo (Egypt) and Adapazari (Turkey) in 2008. Temsa Global continues its midibus and light truck production with the objective of, first becoming a regional power, then realizing its vision ‘to be a world class global brand’, and fulfilling its mission: ‘As a commercial vehicle producer, together, we create innovative solutions for the customers’.

In Temsa Global’s Adana Production Facilities, established in an area of 555.000 m2, Diamond and Safir intercity coaches and the smaller sized Powerbus, as well as Metropol midi coaches and Prestij midibuses are produced for the Turkish market. Diamond, Safari, Tourmalin and Opalin coaches and midi coaches are produced for the European market, employing flexible production and original design techniques, using different types of engines and power train components, and are being exported to 46 countries.

Temsa Global, with new products, new businesses and new geographies, is going forward in its path of becoming a ‘global brand’, aiming to transfer its knowledge and experience in design, production and marketing to North Africa, the Middle East and Gulf countries. The plant in Egypt started production in April 2008 in order to meet the increasing bus and midibus demand in these regions. The plant produces Temsa Safari and it is located in 10th Ramadan Qualified Industry Zone, 50 km away from Cairo.

Temsa Global’s Adana and Egypt production facilities together have a total annual production capacity of 1500 coaches and 2500 midi coaches, totalling 4000 units annually.

Temsa Global carries out research and development activities through Temsa R&D Company established in Tubitak MAM Technology Free Zone with the objective of developing the most innovative buses and midibuses with the highest technology tailored for the needs of its customers. Within Temsa R&D Company, research and development activities are focused on alternative fuels and materials, quality, safety and comfort.

Temsa Global’s Temsa Avenue city bus and Prestij City midibus developed in 2008 are designed for use in the public city transportation segment and are manufactured at its Adana production facilities. Temsa Avenue, developed to meet the European city transport standards, is 12 metres long and stands out with its environment friendly engine and comfort. Whereas the 26-passenger Prestij City midibus provides advantages for the customers in city transportation with its low fuel consumption and high manoeuvrability.

Temsa Global manages its European operations under the name of ‘Temsa Europe’ based in Mechelen, Belgium. In addition to Belgium, Temsa Global also has subsidiaries that provide after sales services in Austria and Germany. Currently 80% of Temsa Global’s exports are made to European countries and 75% of its bus and coach production is exported. With 10 representative offices in different countries around the world and its strong international marketing, sales, spare parts and services network in 46 countries, Temsa Global sells buses and midibuses in a wide geography.

Besides its production activities under its own brand, Temsa Global also maintains the distributorship of Mitsubishi products since 1984. As per its distributorship agreement with Mitsubishi, Temsa Global executes sales, service and spare parts operations of Mitsubishi passenger cars, panel vans and pick-up light commercial vehicles. Holding the market leader position in the Turkish market with Mitsubishi Fuso Canter and Mitsubishi L200 pick-up models, Temsa Global also added panel van Maxus, which was awarded 13 prizes within 3 years in Europe, to its product range. Moreover, in its Adapazari plant that started production in 2008, it continues bodywork and trailer production along with the production of Mitsubishi Fuso Canter light truck whose sales has a 57% market share in Turkey. Trucks produced in Adapazari plant, extended on an area of 153.000 m2, are planned to be exported to the countries on the Silk Road and the surrounding region.

Temsa Global has been supplying construction equipment and forklifts to various sectors of the market and rendering after sales services for the past 26 years as a distributor of Komatsu construction equipment. Buckets, whose production resumed in 2008, generated a big interest in the construction equipment sector with their high quality and functionality. In such a short time as one year, 54 different types of buckets were produced in line with the customer requirements. Moreover, Temsa Global was granted distributorship of Komatsu products for additional countries such as Georgia, Azerbaijan and Cyprus. Temsa Global aspires to become a regional player in the construction equipment sector with the Komatsu brand, just like it has done so in the bus and midibus sector.

In 2008, Temsa Global launched the Galeri Plus service for the use of commercial vehicle and construction equipment owners, a service that facilitates the purchase, sales and barter of second hand products regardless of the brand. Galeri Plus is planned to be available in 10 different locations in 2009, and through the service, purchase, sale and barter operations for all kinds of second hand commercial vehicles, products and equipment, including minibus, midibus, bus, construction equipment, forklift, light and heavy trucks are realized.

In 2008 Temsa Global’s total investments amounted 33 million USD, creating direct employment opportunities for 430 people and increasing the total number of its employees to 2.555. Temsa Global’s total net sales reached 870 million USD and its amount of bus exports totalled 202 million USD in 2008. Furthermore, 49 million USD worth of re-exports were realized for the Komatsu construction equipment products.
